This is a popular, part-time ‘beginners’ counselling course with a strong focus on the person–centred approach. It is delivered over 3 hours per week in 29 weeks. This course introduces learners to counselling skills development & underpinning theoretical knowledge. The course is offered with daytime or evening study options by very experienced tutors with an excellent industry reputation.
This qualification gives learners the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and practice the methods needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately. This course is a practical introduction for those interested in becoming a counsellor or working in a listening capacity. Roles that can be enhanced by this course include health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work.
The course will also develop your literacy/English Skills as well as information and communication technology skills.
You will have the opportunity to explore the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical framework for good practice, anti-discriminatory practice. In addition, you will have the opportunity to explore your own beliefs, blocks to listening and learning and giving and receiving feedback. You will engage in self-reflection with a view to develop skills and personal qualities that align to ethical and professional counselling practice.
