Football Coaching (Newcastle United Foundation), Level 3

This course is for you if you have a passion and drive to have a successful career within the football coaching and officiating industry.

In partnership with Newcastle United Foundation, this qualification is specifically aimed at students who already have some experience of football coaching and officiating, whether that be with sports clubs, in local schools or volunteering at a range of different events.

This course will further develop your confidence and ability to deliver football coaching sessions and will provide you with opportunities and experiences to boost your abilities as a coach and official. You will also complete the new online ‘Introduction to Coaching Football’ as well as basic and FA referees courses whilst receiving practical support from development staff at Newcastle United Foundation.

There will be a range of guest speakers from the football coaching and officiating industry who will share key information as well as the opportunity to gain valuable work experience across the football
industry.

Alongside the 1st4Sport qualification, you will also gain a FA Level 1 qualification in Emergency Aid and Safeguarding Children.

You must be at least 17 years old with GCSEs Grade C/4 or above in English and maths as well as a passion for coaching/officiating within football.

You will be assessed through your coursework, which will include practical workbooks, discussions with your tutor as well as observation of practical coaching and officiating sessions.

Depending on other qualifications studied, you could progress onto a university degree such as Sports Coaching. There may also be opportunities to use industry specific qualifications gained to obtain part or full time work.

Careers include: Sports Coach, Sports Coaching Apprentice, PE Specialist Primary Teacher, Sports Development Officer.

Placements may include: Primary Schools, Secondary Schools, local football clubs, Northumberland FA, NUFC Foundation, TyneMet NESA as well as many more.

As part of the course, you’ll also have the opportunity to explore careers within football coaching as you’ll benefit from meeting a range of guest speakers and hearing about their career journey.
