T Level in Management and Administration: Team Leadership and Management Pathway

Course Overview

The T Level in Management and Administration: Team Leadership and Management Pathway is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in leadership and management roles within various industries. This two-year program combines classroom learning with real-world experience through an industry placement, ensuring that students develop both theoretical understanding and practical competencies.

T Levels follow GCSE studies and are designed by key employers to provide you with the knowledge skills and behaviours over the course of two years to achieve a role as a manufacturing supervisor, office manager as well as a variety of junior-to-middle management roles. This can be tailored to an industry sector of your choice, for example if you have an interest in construction, engineering, green skills, digital, finance, etc.

You will take part in an industry placement which will equate to 45 days over the course of two years, this could be a part time if you have one in a relevant field. This will encourage you to gain external business industry experience in the pathway you have selected. It will also give you the opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in a work place setting.

To study the course, you will need GCSE English Language and maths subjects at grade 5 or above plus 3 other GCSE subjects at grade 4 or above.

It is not a requirement to have studied business at GCSE, however you must have an interest in management and administration.

If you do not meet these entry requirements, you can apply to study a level 2 transition programme with us, to allow you to progress on a T Level the following year.

First Year

In your first year, you will gain core knowledge, which will provide an overview of business in context which will include organisational cultures and values; stakeholders and their impact; the different forms of organisational governance and the impact of business activity towards its communities and the environment.

You will also gain core knowledge and skills needed for project and change management where you will discover what how key theories and modules are used to support and improve project success.

The second element of your first year will involve taking part in an Employer set Project, which is designed by business leaders so you can gain real-life experience in working practices within the business context, which will develop your commercial awareness. This will include:

  • Conducting a PESTLE analysis to inform a change in the organisation.
  • Project Plan
  • Introducing a new policy or training programme where communication methods are considered for each target audience
  • Creating an innovative business solution to present to stakeholders.

The third and final element of your first-year studies is your industry placement which equates to 20% of your qualification, and will be in line with the pathway you have chosen for this professional T Level.

Second Year

In your second year, you will specialise in Team Leadership and Management. This will allow you to focus on developing into a supervisory or junior management job role. This is designed to provide you with an insight into how business teams operate, and how you can lead a team within a department. You will discover a new set of business tools, problem solving skills and project management theories and models. You will fine tune your time management skills and how to prioritise workloads. This will include considering improvements that can be made and recommendations for improvements to business practices. You will have started your business network, with the foundations of the positive internal and external stakeholder relationships you will develop over the two year programme. You will also complete your on-the-job placement hours in this academic year.

As part of your T Level studies you will take part in an Employer set Project, which is designed by business leaders so you can gain real-life experience in working practices within the business context, which will develop your commercial awareness. This will include:

  • Conducting a PESTLE analysis to inform a change in the organisation.
  • Project Plan
  • Introducing a new policy or training programme where communication methods are considered for each target audience
  • Creating an innovative business solution to present to stakeholders.

This course is ideal for learners wanting a career as a team leader whether this be a supervisor or in junior management. It can include a range of management based job roles, from manufacturing supervisor through to office management roles, in a variety of key industries in the North East.
