Course Overview
The HND in General Engineering provides a broad and flexible education in core engineering disciplines. This qualification is ideal for students looking to deepen their knowledge across mechanical, electrical, electronic and manufacturing engineering principles.
Designed with industry professionals, this course develops practical skills, analytic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. It also provides a strong foundation for further academic study, such as top-up degree in an engineering discipline.

- Professional Engineering Management
- Advanced Mechanical Principles
- Further Mathematics
- Lean Manufacturing
- Advanced Manufacturing Technology
- Sustainability
In order to study the course, you will need an HNC in a relevant engineering discipline and commenced study of your HNC on or after September 2021.
You will also need to attend an informal interview with the course tutor.
As this is a BTEC qualification, there will only be assignments as the assessment method.
On completion of the HND, you will be able to progress to an engineering related degree or to employment as a graduate/trainee engineer.
