Our Foundation Degree in Power Distribution and Sustainable Energy has been developed in partnership with University of Sunderland and Northern Powergrid. the course is designed ti prepare Power Engineers for the future ‘Net Zero’ energy targets by understanding how conventional energy production, combined with renewables, connect to the grid and distributed throughout the country.
Essentially, the course covers the fundamentals of power distribution, as well as sustainability and effects of battery charging on the network. There is a mixture of theory, calculations, research, simulations and practical work. The college is equipped with state-of-the-art Power Distribution Unit and Festo Nacelle Wind Turbine Trainer for realistic practical training.
The team of lecturers on the course have a wealth of electrical engineering and renewable energy experience within industry and are able to deliver complex concepts in easy-to-understand terms. Many of our students have been employed by Northern PowerGrid and have graduated from the course to excel in their power engineering careers. The foundation degree equips our students with the knowledge, skills and behaviours sought after by power distribution companies and best places them for employment within the sector. Our team wish you every success on your course and are here to guide you through every step of the way.
You will need to have an HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering to enrol on the course.
An interview with the course tutor is also required.
Following completion of the course, students can go on to become Design Engineers with Power Distribution.
Total fee for this course is £5,500.
