You want a career in the sport or rugby industry and have a passion for and a strong ability within rugby. In partnership with Newcastle Falcons, this course will allow you to complete a NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport while training and learning within a professional rugby environment.
You will train like a professional with expert coaches from Newcastle Falcons, experience media training, post-match analysis as well as access to superb strength & conditioning recovery sessions.

You will also have the opportunity to experience life in a high performance environment as well as gaining fitness and coaching qualification alongside your main course.
Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above, including English and Maths OR Merit in a Sport qualification at Level 2 along with C’s (4’s) at GCSE in English and Maths. An interview with a course tutor and a reference from a personal tutor are also required.
New for this year, we are now offering 3 pathways for you to develop your sporting ambition alongside academic success.
Pathway 1 (Academic Route)
Study 3 STEM A Level subjects
This pathway is delivered by expert staff at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College.
Pathway 2 (Vocational Route)
Study an NCFE Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport (this pathway is equivalent to 3 A Levels)
Pathway 3 (Combination)
Combine both pathways and study a Level 3 NCFE Extended Diploma in Sport alongside a STEM A Level subject.
All pathways are based at Kingston Park and include rugby training slots built in around your timetable.
Depending on which pathway you choose, you will be assessed by exams and coursework.
The coursework includes projects, group presentations and practical work. There will also be a range of externally assessed units which will be in the form of an external exam as well as a controlled assessment.
The Falcons Community Foundation Rugby Programme also offers excellent progression routes through links with Northumbria University. You could progress onto a wide range of university degrees in areas such as, Sport & Exercise Science, Sports Coaching, Sports Development, Sports Management, Sports Therapy, Strength and Conditioning, Sports Psychology or Sports Nutrition.
You also have the option to progress onto a Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching or Exercise Health & Fitness at TyneMet, awarded by the University of Sunderland. Careers include: Teacher, Professional Rugby Coach, Sport Development Officer, Rugby Development Officer, Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, Health Promotion Worker, Sport/Health/Leisure Centre Manager, Strength and Conditioning Coach or Sport Psychologist.
