Extended Diploma in Digital Technology – Level 3

This course is for you if...

You want to develop advanced IT skills across a wide range of digital platforms. This is the perfect course if you are looking for up-to-the-minute training in digital technologies and want to study selected areas for today’s digital industry.

Units you will study will include: Information Technology Systems; Creating systems to manage information; Social media and business; Programming; IT project management; Cyber security and incident management; IT service delivery.

Other units may include: Data modelling; Website development; Mobile Apps development; Software testing; Customising and Integrating applications and Business process modelling tools.

BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma – one year

BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma – one year

To gain a full Level 3 qualification this course is over two years.

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C (4) or above, including English and Maths; or a pass at Level 2 Diploma in IT including English and Maths at Level 2; or equivalent.

You will also need to attend an informal interview with the course tutor.

Assessment is both internal and external. For internally assessed units, these will take the form of tutor set assignments throughout the year. For externally assessed units, these will be awarding body set exams.

Progression into further study at TyneMet or university. You can also go straight into employment working in specialist areas within IT support.
