ESOL – Speaking and Listening (Entry Level 3)

Course Overview

English for Speakers of Other Languages or ESOL, is the course for you if English isn’t your main language and you would like to learn and improve your English.

Improving your English will make it easier to:

  • Talk to doctors and teachers
  • Learn to use a computer to improve your language skills
  • Understand the laws and customs of the UK
  • Get a recognised qualification from your course
  • Help your child with homework
  • Prepare for the Life in the UK test and become a British citizen.

TyneMet’s ESOL teachers will be very happy to help you improve your English and help you get more out of life in the UK. You will gain and expand your skills in:

  • Speaking and Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing

The ESOL community at TyneMet is very friendly and our teachers and other staff will provide you with lots of support throughout the course. We will find the class, level and pace that is best for you. Our classes will help you prepare for the Citizenship Test and you will also learn to use a computer to improve your language skills.

Many of our ESOL students have progressed onto other courses such as Hair and Beauty, Art and Design, Nursing, Floristry and many more. Others have gone on to study at University and continue their learning in Higher Education.

We organise fun trips to interesting places such as Alnwick Castle, York, Edinburgh and Beamish Museum. We also offer a range of sports like football, table tennis and badminton. Our courses include special celebrations like our Christmas Party, International Food and Music Days, and social evenings.

Our ESOL courses are free for most students. However some students may have to pay fees. You may also be eligible for a travel pass. Please contact our Student Services team for information on fees and finance.
