The award is for those whose aim is to enter the industry and for those wanting to gain a welding qualification for their own personal skills development.

Upon completion of Level 2 award, students can also have their test pieces tested in accordance with British Standards 4872 which is recoginsed across industry.

A City & Guilds Level 1 or equivalent qualification is preferable. However, candidates must have the experience and potential to be successful in gaining the qualification.

The oral test will be carried out with the assessor following successful completion of the practical tests.

Practical pieces will be assessed by visual inspection and destructive mechanical tests. Underpinning knowledge questions consist of 20 oral questions.

These qualifications are a platform for progression to other City & Guild qualifications that have a welding route.
