Course Overview

Start your journey towards a career in the electrical industry with our Adult Level 3 Electrical Installation course. Designed for learners looking to gain recognised skills and practical experience, this course covers the essential knowledge needed to install, maintain, and test electrical systems safely and effectively.

 

You will develop hands-on skills in areas including scientific principles, wiring systems, inspection and testing, fault finding, regulations, and safe working practices. Combining practical training with classroom learning, the course prepares you for further progression or employment within the electrical sector.

To study this course, you must be over 19 and already have a Level 2 Electrical Installation qualification.

Students on the course will develop a broad body of knowledge, skills, and understanding of electrical installation, including:

  • Scientific principles
  • Inspection, testing, and commissioning
  • Fault finding and diagnosis
  • Electrical design practices and procedures
  • Organising and overseeing electrical work activities in buildings
  • Requirements for electrical installations to BS 7671

You will be assessed on the course by:

  • 3 x Multiple choice exam
  • 1 x practical assessment
  • 1 x design assessment

This qualification supports progression onto an Installation and Maintenance Electrician apprenticeship.

Following the completion of an apprenticeship, typical job roles include:

  • Installation Electrician
  • Maintenance Electrician
  • Electrician
