This course is suitable for adult students who are interested in building core digital and IT skills for employment, further study or career progression. It is ideal for those who want to move into digital, admin, technical or support roles, explore technology‑related career pathways, or gain essential knowledge of cyber security and safe working practices. The course is also well suited to adults returning to education who are seeking a supportive, adult‑focused learning environment with evening delivery to fit around work or family commitments.

No prior business experience or qualifications are required to access this course.

You will complete a selection of units designed to develop both technical understanding and professional digital skills:

  • The Online World
    Explore how the internet works and how online services, websites and digital communication are used by individuals and organisations.

 

  • Technology Systems
    Gain an understanding of computer hardware, operating systems and how technology systems function in everyday business and workplace settings.

 

  • Digital Portfolio
    Develop and present a digital portfolio to showcase your skills, creativity and understanding of digital tools.

 

  • Computer Security in Practice (Cyber security)
    Learn about cyber threats, data protection and safe working practices, and how organisations protect systems and information.

 

  • A Technology Business
    Explore how technology‑based businesses operate, including customers, products, services and commercial decision‑making.

 

  • Mobile App Development
    Develop an introduction to mobile app design and development, focusing on creativity, usability and problem‑solving.

Assessment is though practical tasks, group work, individual assignments and two exams for the Online World and Technology Systems.

On successful completion, students can progress to Level 3 digital or IT qualifications, apprenticeships, or employment in a range of entry‑level and junior roles. Possible pathways include IT support, digital administration, technical assistant roles, customer support, or progression into further specialist study in computing or cyber security. The qualification also supports the development of transferable digital skills valued across many sectors.

This course will be delivered on a Thursday evening from 4:30pm – 8:30pm
