Course Overview
The HNC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is designed to provide learners with a solid foundation in the principles and practices of modern electrical and electronic systems. The course is ideal for those seeking to enter the engineering industry or process within their current technical role.
Students will develop both theoretical understanding and practical skills that are applicable across a wide range of industries. The course is studied part-time over two years and provides a strong basis for further study, such as progressing to an HND.
- Unit 4001: Engineering Design
- Unit 4002: Engineering Maths
- Unit 4004: Managing a Professional Engineering Project
- Unit 4014: Production Engineering for Manufacture
- Unit 4015: Automation, Robotics and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Unit 4017: Quality and Process Improvement
- Unit 4019: Electrical and Electronic Principles
- Unit 4021: Electrical Machines
Generally, students should be at least 18 years old and have either:
- a BTEC National Certificate/ Diploma in a relevant subject
Mature students with other qualifications or appropriate work experiences may be considered. Proof of employment or placement within the applied field of study is essential.
Assignments and a work-based project.
Progression onto a Foundation Degree in engineering or access to the HND in Engineering.

Total cost of the course is 3,150 per year.
