TyneMet Student Gets England Honours

John Grey, 18, from Heaton, studying on the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching was on England duty last week, he was one of only 16 players selected to play for the England Colleges Squad against Australia Colleges at Solihull Motors Football Club stadium in Birmingham.

John played a great game at left back and was given some excellent praise by the England Manager Gordon Stainforth, Gordon said:

"I was delighted with John's performance.  He is a competent all round footballer who caused a lot of trouble in the attacking third."

Playwork Apprentices Lead the Way

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, on Thursday 9th February 2012, North Tyneside Council Apprentices studying on the Playwork Apprenticeship programme at TyneMet College spent the morning leading and delivering 'risky play sessions' at Shiremoor Adventure Playground, to students studying on Early Years courses.

Despite the inclement and freezing cold weather the Apprentices worked with the first year students, teaching them to carry out 'risk benefit' assessments and introduced various resources that can be utilised in 'risky play sessions.
