Digital Functional Skills (Fast Track)

Course Overview

In today’s digital world, technological advancements mean that digital skills are now a fundamental part of the workplace and personal life. A 2020 report by the UK government’s Digital Skills Taskforce stated that 85% of new jobs would require digital skills.

Our digital functional skills qualifications will enable learners to initiate and participate in digital and online activities safely in the workplace and in other real-life contexts.

Resources will be available online and in-class with support from your tutor.

Digital functional skills qualifications should enable students to gain confidence and fluency in their use of digital knowledge and skills and develop a positive attitude towards the use of digital skills. It will enable students to develop an appreciation of the importance of digital skills in the workplace and in life generally and students will demonstrate their knowledge and skills by applying these to complete tasks and activities; and provide a basis for further study, work and life.

The course will cover key topics such as:

  • Using devices and handling information
  • Creating and editing
  • Communicating
  • Transacting
  • Being safe and responsible online

Digital FSQs will enable students to initiate and participate in digital and online activities safely in the workplace and other real-life contexts.

Our Functional Skills qualifications are intended for anyone wishing to develop their digital skills. They focus on both the underpinning skills as well as the ability to apply digital skills to different contexts. The level of functional skills you complete with us, will be based on an initial assessment completed through the enrolment process.

 

You will be informally initially assessed at enrolment to determine the level you are working towards. After initial advice and guidance you may be offered a place in our entry level 3 or Level 1 classes.

This qualification is awarded by NOCN and at both entry level 3 and Level 1, assessments are designed so that they are authentic and relevant to today’s workplace and everyday life.

Assessments are set in line with the awarding body and are completed on-site and online in a controlled environment. Entry level 3 will be centre marked, and Level 1 will be marked by NOCN.

Digital Functional Skills qualifications are intended to support you develop your digital competencies and explore your knowledge of systems and processes that are required in everyday life and employment. You will:

  • Gain confidence and fluency in their use of digital knowledge and skills, and develop a positive attitude towards the use of digital skills;
  • Develop an appreciation of the importance of digital skills in the workplace and in life generally;
  • Demonstrate their knowledge and skills by applying these to complete tasks and activities;
  • Provide a basis for further study, work and life.

You will progress through this programme at your own pace and will complete it within 12 weeks from your start date. If you would like to fast-track through the programme, you can access the online resources and work through with your tutor to sit an early exam.
