Engineering and Manufacturing (Diploma) // Level 1

This course is designed for those who are new to engineering and manufacturing, those who want to gain knowledge and practical skills in a broad range of advanced engineering and manufacturing processes within our industry leading practical training facilities, allowing them to progress into their preferred discipline for further Level 2 study.

You will be working in excellent facilities, using industry-standard equipment safely and you’ll be taught by engineers with vast industry experience and close relationships with some of the region’s largest employers.

Entry Requirements

Two GCSEs at grade 2 (E/F) including English and maths. You will also need to attend an interview with the course tutor. 

You will also work on your maths and English skills studying functional skills (or GCSE depending on entry grades) alongside your engineering qualification.


Assessment is by practical assessment, knowledge questions and electronic portfolio of evidence.

Progression & Careers

The EAL Level 1 Level 1 Diploma in Engineering & Manufacturing allows you to gain the skills you need to progress onto a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Engineering in your chosen discipline, seek an apprenticeship or simply enjoy working within an engineering environment.

You will gain expertise on this course that will provide you with the essential components of an engineering career.
