Train to Gain is a service offered by the Government aimed at helping businesses address the skills shortages of their workforce and get the quality training they need.

As an approved Train to Gain provider, through TyneMet College you can obtain FREE independent training advice through Business Development Advisors to ensure you receive flexible, responsive training that meets your business needs. Accessing Train to Gain funding that means you could get FREE NVQ level 2 or even level 3 training for your staff.  All our training is delivered in the workplace or at an appropriate location for staff at times to meet production requirements or work/shift patterns.

How it works:

  • Identifying your training needs. We will carry out a free analysis of your business to determine the skills you need now and in the future
  • Selecting the right training - we will work with you to select the training that suits your staff best and how and when it is delivered
  • Delivering the training - we will work with you to deliver your training package.
    Your employees will be visited regularly at work by an Assessor who will observe them in the workplace and advise how to gather evidence
    for the NVQ portfolio
  • Progress reviews with you and your employee to help to plan and keep track of employee learning with minimum disruption to your business.

Who is eligible in your workforce for Train to Gain funded training?

Employees must:

  • Be over 19 years old
  • Have a contract of employment
  • Be receiving their wage whilst they are in training
  • Live in England
  • Not currently hold any qualification at level 2 or qualifications equal to or higher than 5 GCSEs or equivalent (please contact us for more information).
