Skills for Employment

Are you looking for work or do you want a change of job?
Have you been sending out application forms but getting no response?
... It’s time for TyneMet College.

Whether you are just starting to look for a job or have been looking for a while, let TyneMet help you to improve your chances of getting that interview and knowing what to do when you do. Our specially designed short courses can help you to improve your employability, get up to date skills, increase your confidence and get a recognised BTEC qualification in the process.

The courses run for less than 16 hours in a week so won’t affect your Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) and will still leave you plenty of time to continue looking for employment.

Courses are designed to address the following common issues for today’s jobseekers:

  • Improve your confidence
  • Develop team working
  • Improve your application form, CV and letter writing
  • Identify what employers are looking for on an application form
  • How to fill in the ‘what skills and experience do you have’ box in a meaningful way
  • How to plan for an interview, the do’s and don’ts
  • Overcoming interview nerves
  • Try out your new interview techniques in a mock interview and receive valuable feedback for future real interviews.

TyneMet runs the following courses as part of Skills for Employment:

  • Workskills
  • Certificate of Personal Effectiveness
  • ICT Functional Skills
  • ITQ
  • Award in Substance Misuse Awareness
  • Award in Exploring Enterprise Skills.
