TyneMet Gymnastics Club recently competed at South Durham Gymnastics Club against 7 other clubs and walked away with an impressive array of medals and ribbons, proving that since opening a year ago they have gone from strength to strength.
The club were rewarded for all of their hard work and effort leading up to the competition with awards in the following categories; in the Under 10 Girls they won Gold and Silver medals and a 6th place ribbon, in the Under 10 Mixed they won a Silver medal, in the under 12 Girls they won a 6th place ribbon and in the Under 14 Girls they won a gold medal. These fantastic achievements were of huge importance to the club because for some of the members this was their first ever competition.
Throughout the day the gymnasts performed to a very high standard and were cheered on and by family and friends. Fellow club members who were not taking part in the competition also attended on the day to pledge their support, a moral boosting gesture that did not go unnoticed by the rest of the club and coaches.
Lynsey White, Head Coach, Tynemet Gymnastics Club, said:
"All of the coaches are delighted with the results of the competition; we were amazed at how professional and polished the gymnasts were. We were thrilled that some gymnasts who had never competed before came away with Gold medals; the club is definitely on the right track.
We hope that the club will continue with its successful run of achievements in the future, our next competition is in March next year at the Parks in South Shields."
