Our Level 3 Diploma Photographic and Fashion students took centre stage in their catwalk debut, wowing audiences with their ingenious creative styling and flair; and with front row seats occupied by the Tyne Tees Models team, the models graced down the catwalk, showcasing their fashion collections.

The magnificent evening; which was organised by the Level 3 students and their tutor, presented runway looks to rival those of any Paris fashion show. The course which is in partnership with Tyne Tees Models provides a varied insight into the dynamics of the fashion industry; offering practical skills and valuable experience for those interested in pursuing a career in fashion.

Backstage; models worked on perfecting their looks for the hair and makeup assessment - I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek behind the scenes, rubbing shoulders with Queen Alexandra’s very own top models; Abbey Cross, 18 said: “My emotions are all rolled into one, a mix of excitement and nervousness, I’ve loved every element of this course, you get a taster for lots of different things - from photography to business so it’s all experience for the future. At the moment I’m focused on study, and still undecided what route to take but working for a fashion magazine as an editor would be my dream job”.

The course which has been developed in partnership with Tyne Tees Models; exploring the world of fashion and providing a solid understanding of how the industry works; Tracy Affleck, Tutor said:  “This evenings’ catwalk has demonstrated student professionalism and progression; it has been marvellous to see the student’s development and were really excited for Tyne Tees Models to be here this evening”.

The level of professionalism was clearly demonstrated by student Callum Bunting, 17 who had taken a tumble during rehearsals declared the show must still go on: “I’ve truly enjoyed my time on the course, from meeting new friends and developing my passion for fashion; the tutors have been excellent – I’ve especially enjoyed the business studies unit”.

So would the next ‘face’ of the fashion industry be discovered at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form? Tyne Tees Models, Managing Director Lesley Middlemiss Lister said: “I’m looking at the whole creative package – from immaculate hair and make up to timings; a polished presentable look and a confident walk will score highly – it’s clear to see how hard the students have worked and I’m delighted to attend this evening’s catwalk show”.
