Music students will also have the chance to hone your creative talents by refining your techniques and ability at the music department which is based at TyneMet’s Creative Studios in North Shields and boasts state-of-the art digital recording studios, rehearsal rooms and an education suite, two fully sound-proofed control rooms, a large vocal booth and one of the largest live rooms in the region.

 Throughout the course individuals develop their existing musical skills as well as enhancing their knowledge and understanding of the music industry and associated career opportunities.

Laura, 17, a student at the studios said: “The BTEC Level 3 in Music Production at YMCA Music Studio has helped me further my knowledge and skills as a musician and producer. The course tutors are great and I have been able to learn and develop new and innovative ideas for my music - I have enjoyed every minute of the course.”

Local band, Lisbon has a long history with the studio having achieved remarkable musical kudos – the band has a huge fan base, enjoyed  air time on Radio 1 and has recently released a new album, the band said:

The YMCA Music Studio was where it all began for us, We have huge respect for the studio. They gave us loads of opportunities to gig and we recorded our first two singles in the studio. A few years later we wrote and Demo’d our first big single “BlueLove” at the studio. We owe so much to the team – they helped to give us such a great start in the industry.”

The Creative Studios, which is based at the Queen Alexandra Campus in North Shields, offers the perfect mix of practical music training with theory to help talented aspiring musicians and producers to gain commercially related experience required for this vibrant and exciting industry.
