With over 50 teams completing the Regional Heats in the official search for the apprentice team of the year; a number of apprentice champions from TyneMet College are travelling to the House of Commons for the finalist announcement on Wednesday, 17 May.

A team of nine apprentices, all studying at Tyne Metropolitan College, have entered the Brathay Apprentice Challenge 2017. The Brathay Apprentice Challenge is the search for the apprentice team of the year – a competition which sees over 50 teams from across England competing to be crowned apprentice team of the year 2017.

In their bid to win the Brathay Apprentice Challenge, our team have completed a series of exciting and interactive work-related challenges to develop new skills and showcase their employer by engaging with young people and businesses to promote the benefits of apprenticeships.

At the finalist announcement event, our apprentices will have the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Skills Funding Agency, Brathay Trust, key stakeholders of the Brathay Apprentice Challenge and other supporters of apprenticeships.

The photo above shows some of the team dropping children’s clothes off at their chosen project partner, the Tyne Gateway Trust. The project was part of the overall challenge completed by the team.

Good luck to our industrious team of apprentice champions in their quest to be recognised as the apprentice team of the year 2017 – watch this space to see if we have reached the National Finals! Show your support by following and sharing our journey on Twitter @TynemetBAC17
