On 10 May 2017, the Board of the Corporation of Tyne Metropolitan College approved the following draft resolution which is now published in accordance with the requirements of the Department for Education.

'The Corporation of Tyne Metropolitan College resolves, pursuant to section 27A of the Further and Higher Education Act 1992 and pursuant to article 26 of the Corporation's articles of government that the Corporation should be dissolved on 1 August 2017, and that all rights and liabilities of the Corporation are transferred to South Tyneside College (in the process of changing its name to Tyne Coast College) with effect from the date of dissolution.'

In accordance with the merger project plan, Tyne Metropolitan College’s Corporation Board will formally approve the above resolution on 12 July following confirmation that the Board of the Corporation of South Tyneside College agrees to accept the transfer of all rights and liabilities from Tyne Metropolitan College.

Importantly, the merger ensures that it is ‘business as usual’ in both the boroughs of North Tyneside and South Tyneside and to reinforce this, we are retaining our existing campuses and college brands which are familiar to our students and customers.
