Two students have been selected by Basketball England for the latest Under 18 squad.
17 year old students, Lamar Morrison and Ross Wilson will be heading to training camp in Loughborough next month.
The players are also team members of the TyneMet Titans and Newcastle Eagles.
Lamar, who comes from Birmingham but chose to study at TyneMet because of the expert coaching he receives from the college's North East Sports Academy said: "It was a nice surprise getting the call-up. I didn't make it last year but I've been working hard and that seems to have paid off."
Marc Steutel, is the student's coach. He said: \Having both Lamar and Ross selected for the England national team is a testament to their commitment and attitude to the game. They have both made great strides over these past two years within the basketball development centre and are now getting recognised on a national level for this. We all hope that they represent themselves well at training camp and make the European championship roster for next summer\.
Both Lamar and Ross still have to impress once they get to training camp as the selectors will then decide the final team selection from the full squad but both players are confident of success.
