The new Flourish shop and classroom facilities at TyneMet were packed out last night for an official opening.

Dozens of invited guests looked on as ITV Tyne Tees presenter, Philippa Tomson cut the ribbon at the entrance to the new shop.

Once the formalities were over, customers old and new had time to browse and buy from the big selection of flowers and accessories.

There was also a lot of interest in the courses available this coming year…and that included Philippa!

As she said: "I know nothing about flowers but I know I love them and I'm extremely impressed by the retail outlet which looks stunning and the classroom facilities are second to none."

Also on hand was local councillor and Deputy Chair of North Tyneside council, Margaret Finlay. Both Cllr Finlay and Philippa Tomson were presented with bouquets designed by the Flourish teachers and students.
