Tina Reddel and Wendy Naylor, both Floristry Teachers at TyneMet College, for a third year in a row, were invited to work with Jonathan Moseley an International Floral Designer and Floral Expert on the BBC2 ‘The Big Allotment Challenge’.

Tina and Wendy were delighted to be invited to support Jonathan in his challenge to florally transform Chatsworth House, a stately home in the Peak District. For the last three years they have worked with Jonathan to create floral designs to celebrate the ‘Florabundance Festival’ which is held a Chatsworth House each year.

Jonathan also extended this invitation to two current students to participate and experience the magical transformation first hand. The Level 3 Diploma in Floristry students placed their names in a hat and the two lucky winners were Danielle Webster, 43 from Hexham and Carole King, 42, from Ashington.

Danielle and Carole were delighted to be able to accompany Tina and Wendy, who between them have 50 years of experience in the floristry industry. This year they were tasked with decorating the Great Chamber with Amarylis and then helping with designs in the sculpture room.

The final displays were described as amazing; Jonathan was again so happy with their achievements that he sent a letter to Tina and Wendy, thanking them for all of their help and support again this year. Jonathan said in the letter that the display in the Great Chamber looked totally amazing, and he hoped that they had enjoyed putting his floral vision for that area into reality.

He went on to say that working somewhere as beautiful as Chatsworth is always a treat and he hoped that they had all enjoyed having the opportunity to arrange flowers in such a stunning location and he also said that he appreciated them sharing their professional talents and thanked them for travelling such a great distance.
