Closer Links with Major Companies ...30 November 2010
Key figures from two of the country's top businesses have been to TyneMet. The first was Karen Seth, Head of HR North for Sainsburys Ltd. The visit was arranged by Jo Lyons, North Tyneside Education Business Partnership Manager as part of the 'Visit our Schools and Colleges Week', a national campaign aimed at strengthening ties between education and commerce.
National Role for Joe ...30 November 2010
TyneMet student, Joe Danquah has been selected for a top national sporting role. Joe, 18 from Newcastle has been appointed as a National Ambassador for British Sports Colleges - the organisation which represents the sporting interests of students and Colleges across the UK.
Joe, who comes originally from Holland, is studying at TyneMet. Another student, Colin Bell is a Regional Ambassador. Thousands of students apply each year to become a National Ambassador with just ten selected for the top job.
ITV Presenter Opens 'Flourish' ...30 November 2010
The new Flourish shop and classroom facilities at TyneMet were packed out last night for an official opening.
Dozens of invited guests looked on as ITV Tyne Tees presenter, Philippa Tomson cut the ribbon at the entrance to the new shop.
Once the formalities were over, customers old and new had time to browse and buy from the big selection of flowers and accessories.
There was also a lot of interest in the courses available this coming year…and that included Philippa!
