Higher Education
TyneMet's Higher Education department offers a wide range of courses. Each provides students with a number of career options, increasing the opportunities open to them after graduation. Students can chose to study for a Higher National Certificate (HNC), a Higher National Diploma (HND) or a foundation degree at the college.
HE Foundation Courses
The Access department offers an alternative route into further study via a range of exciting Higher Education Foundation Courses (HEFCs). These programmes are designed to reduce barriers to Higher Education, enabling more students to explore how far their potential can take them. Each Access course is modular and credits are accumulated, a learning style that makes studying more flexible.

“In view of the fact that it is some 35 years or more since I engaged in any form of study and I currently enjoy academic success which surpasses all of my expectations, I believe I can credit some of that achievement to the encouragement and support of my tutors. ”
Lesley Purvis, Foundation Degree in Counselling Practice
