What does the qualification cover?
The aim of this
qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and
five years, with knowledge of children up to seven years.
Who is it suitable for?
This qualification is
suitable for a range of learners from the age of 16 onwards who have little or
no experience in childcare.
Entry requirements
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D (3) or above (preferably including English); or pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate or equivalent; or progression from a relevant Level 1 qualification.
You will also need to attend an informal interview with the course tutor.
A DBS check and two
confidential references and the ability to work in demanding placement settings
are necessary
Assessment
All units will be
internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct
observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments
or a task.
Some learning outcomes
within this qualification will require assessment in a real work environment.
Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
This qualification
allows progression on to the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and
other Level 3 qualifications relating to child care.
