If you want to brush up on your Maths, English and add to your CV, choosing a course from our range of Employability, Maths and English department couldn’t be easier. You'll gain valuable skills for everyday life and job applications whilst achieving a nationally recognised qualification.
Achieving a qualification in Maths or English will help you to get a job, get promoted and give your children guidance with their homework. The qualifications are accredited by City & Guilds and NCFE and the process is free, flexible and designed for adults.
Our range of FREE short courses and qualifications for individuals currently out of work that could lead to jobs as well as developing skills that are attractive to potential employers.
These courses will suit you if:
You can gain the qualifications at the following levels:
Entry Level 3 - A stepping-stone to the higher levels of study
Level 1 - Equivalent to a GCSE D - G grade
Level 2 - Equivalent to a GCSE A* - C grade
The first step is an initial assessment usually using a computer and takes around an hour. Your teacher will then work with you to prepare an Individual Learning Plan and choose the level of learning that suits you, from complete beginner right up to Level 2. Your plan will also contain targets so that you can decide the speed at which you want to learn and the topics you need to cover. You can then take as many practice tests as you like and when you feel ready you take the test for real.
You can take the test at Tyne Metropolitan College, Coast Road Campus.
