Health & Social Care Extended Diploma // Level 3
This is the course for you if you have skills in Health and Social Care and wish to further these skills to pursue a career in the field.
There are a variety of subjects covered on this Level 3 course. From Physiological Disorders, Anatomy and Physiology, Dementia Care. You will gain a solid understanding of complex Health & Social Care topics. You will also learn about research methodology and gain enhanced communication skills.
This qualification is mapped against National Occupational Standards for Health and Social Care and acts as a robust and thorough introduction into the profession.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English Language and Maths; or a Distinction Grade at BTEC First Diploma; or equivalent along with Cs or above in English Language and Maths. You can progress from a Level 2 Health & Social Care qualification with a Distinction Grade and successful functional skills. You will need to attend an interview with a course tutor and receive a satisfactory DBS check and reference. You must also provide two confidential references and be able to work in a demanding workplace setting.
Assessment is by formal assignments.

This course is great preparation for moving straight into the sector or for specialising in a relevant area through a Higher Education course at university, or within TyneMet. Courses available in college are Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, or HNC in Healthcare Practice.
Careers include: Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Physiotherapy and other Allied Healthcare professions.
