The course for you if ...
You want to pursue a career in the IT sector using a range of basic computer skills and prepare for the digital world.
Not only will you learn website development, but graphics, databases and spreadsheet skills that will equip you for a job in IT. You will additionally study for a Certificate in Digital Applications and complete an IT project.
Units you will study include:
- Working and communicating in the IT industry
- Project planning
- Database design
- Website development
- Spreadsheets
- Software and computer systems
Entry requirements
Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D (3) or above; or pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate or equivalent.
You will also need to attend an informal interview with the course tutor.
Assessment
Assessment is ongoing and based on assignments.
Progression and careers
Progression to further study in digital applications, such as the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in IT. Careers include: IT Support Technician, Web Developer, IT Recruitment, Programmer, Software Engineer and IT Consultant.
