Introduction to Photoshop
This 6 week course will run 5-7pm on Tuesday's in a specialist workshop environment at the Creative Studios.
The course is designed for an absolute beginner covering how to use Adobe Photoshop workspace and tools. It is an ideal start if you want to get to grips with this popular application.
Adobe Photoshop is one of the most popular ways of manipulating and editing images and a highly useful skill to learn. This Adobe package is widely used in the industry, but can be fun for personal use too and it will make an impressive addition to your CV. The course will take you from the very basics to creating artwork for your friends or family.
Week 1 - Introduction
Black & White portrait
Saving and opening files
Composition and cropping
Week 2 - Double Exposure Portrait
Introduction to layers Image adjustment
Using layers and layer adjustments
Week 3 - Restoration and Archiving
Restoring old photographs
Using clone tool to repair damage
Use of contrast, tone and colour balance
Week 5 - Individual Project
You choose a small personal project utilising techniques learnt.
Week 4 - Collage
(using family or friends)
Introduction to selection tools
Cutting out images
Moving and resizing individual images
Composition with multiple layers and images
Week 6 - Framing and Exhibition:
Preparing work for print
Different mounting and framing techniques
Printing and preparing work for display
