Course Content
Tyne Metropolitan College provides these qualifications to encourage best practice. The awards are assessed to a national standard, allowing employees to have the skills necessary to perform their role effectively.
Each award can be tailored to the role an employee performs. It covers all aspects of collecting, sorting and processing recyclable materials, including units concentrating on service delivery performance, health and safety and team working skills.

Unit 201 Monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the workplace
Unit 202 Maintain good standards of health and safety for self and others
Unit 203 Contribute to maintaining sustainable development and environmental good practice at work.

Practical assessment of candidates’ on-site competence conducted by a qualified and experienced Awarding Body approved Assessor.
Employees will be assessed for their understanding of health and safety, working with others and maintaining standards of service.

Assessment
Employees working towards the qualification will not have to leave their workplace as all assessment and necessary training is carried out whilst employees carry out their day to day tasks.
