Performing Engineering Operations 2

Study Level

Performing Engineering Operations NVQ Level 2

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade D and above, preferably including Science or Maths, or Level 1 PEO or GNVQ Foundation.

Course Content

Students will study the following units:

  • Working Safely in an Engineering Environment
  • Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
  • Using and Communicating Technical Information
  • Producing sheet metal components and assemblies
  • Producing components using hand fitting techniques
  • Preparing and using lathes for turning operations
  • Wiring and testing electrical equipment and circuits

Why Tynemet

Students work with and are taught by a group of engineers with a huge amount of recent industrial experience. The programme benefits from excellent facilities, industry standard equipment and very good relationships with local and national employers. The course offers first-rate multi site workshop facilities and the opportunity for students to gain advice on future job opportunities with some of our partner employers. Gaining the PEO Level 2 gives students good access to the apprenticeship framework.

PEO level 2 is one of the most successful courses within TyneMet’s Engineering Centre, respected and valued by employers and training agencies alike.
