Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include Maths (at grade B or above) and either Double Science (at grade BB or above) or Physics (at grade B or above). AS Physics.

Course Content

Students who have achieved Physics at AS level can move on to complete the full A2 qualification. At this higher level the programme builds on AS Physics and introduces a number of optional topics. The programme is split into three main areas. The first is Fields and Further Mechanics, which covers topics such as momentum, circular motion, gravitational fields and electromagnetic induction. The second area is comprised of
Nuclear and Thermal Physics and an optional unit. The third area is concerned with students’ practical skills.

Assessment

Two 1 hour 45 minute written exams and practical activities.

Progression To

A2 Physics is a sound basis for a degree in Physics or for those applying to study engineering and optometry.
