Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include English Language (higher tier). AS Level English Language.

Course Content

Students who have achieved English Language at AS level can move on to complete the full A2 qualification. This programme explores the nature and functions of language, how its key constituent parts have developed under the influence of a variety of contextual factors and how these changes may be analysed and evaluated creatively.
The course is split into two main sections: Developing Language and Investigating Language. Developing Language includes explorations of the way children acquire
language and historical and contemporary changes in the English language. Investigating Language allows candidates to apply their knowledge of linguistic methods and concepts to an investigation of their choice.

Assessment

One 2 hour written exam and coursework.

Progression To

A2 English Language is a sound basis for a degree in English or many other areas of study.
