Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above to include English Language. AS Sociology.
Course Content
Students who have achieved Sociology at AS level can move on to complete the full A2 qualification. The programme introduces a critical awareness of factors such as education, health, the family and religion in influencing human behaviour. Students develop an understanding of contemporary social issues, such as the changing rate and nature of crime and the diversity of the family model. The topic areas covered by this course include beliefs in society, power and politics, crime and deviance and world sociology. Students also explore theoretical approaches to the subject and learn more about the methodology used by social scientists.

Assessment
One 1 hour 30 minute written exam and one 2 hour written exam.
Progression To
A2 Sociology is a sound basis for a degree in sociology, or for many other academic areas, including criminology, social work and a wide range of humanities and arts degree programmes.
