Course Content
At AS level Film Studies students explore cinema as a medium, as an art form and as a social and economic institution. The programme develops students’ interest in film, broadening both their appreciation and knowledge of the subject. Students consider the way film constructs meaning, provokes varieties of spectator response and raises issues of personal, social, cultural, political and ethical significance. Through studying various films’ producers and audiences students explore the relationship between the production and consumption of films, with particular reference to Hollywood and British film.

“In view of the fact that it is some 35 years or more since I engaged in any form of study and I currently enjoy academic success which surpasses all of my expectations, I believe I can credit some of that achievement to the encouragement and support of my tutors. ”
