Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above to include English Language (higher tier). AS History.
Course Content
Students who have achieved History at AS level can move on to complete the full A2 qualification. The course develops students’ understanding of how historians study the past. Students are encouraged to acquire and effectively communicate knowledge and understanding of modern history via a detailed study of a specific period and a coursework element based on a period of 100 years. History students develop their understanding of historical terms and concepts as they explore the historical significance of events, issues and cultures. This course enables them to understand evidence and the methods historians use to analyse and evaluate it. Subjects covered include the Soviet Union in the post-war era and the place of Cuba and Fidel Castro in Latin American revolutionary history.

Assessment
One 2 hour written exam and coursework.
Progression To
A2 History is a sound basis for a degree in History or many other humanities-based subjects.
