Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above, which must include Maths, English and either Double Science (at grade BB or above) or Biology (at grade B or above).

Course Content

This course encourages students to develop essential knowledge of concepts in biology, an understanding of scientific methods and an awareness of advances in biotechnology.
Topics include digestive and gas exchange systems and how basic biology allows scientists to understand the symptoms of disease. Genetic and environmental factors on intraspecific variation and theories about how life’s variety is created are explored. Alongside these subject areas, students gain practical and investigative skills.

Assessment

One 1 hour 15 minute written exam and one 1 hour 45 minute written exam plus a practical assessment.
