Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C or above, including a grade C in English, Maths and Science. AS Physical Education.
Course Content
Students who have achieved Physical Education at AS level can move on to complete the full A2 qualification. The course takes a multi-disciplinary approach, encouraging students to develop different methods of enquiry. The course is based on the interaction between the theory and practice of physical education. Historical studies, sports psychology and exercise and sport physiology are all covered. There is also a practical element to the programme.
Further Information
Start Date: September one year
Assessment
One 2 hour 30 minute written exam and completion of a physical sporting performance. Students select two sports activities to perform and undertake an interview.
Progression To
This qualification can lead to Higher Education courses in sports studies, sports development, sports science and teacher training. Students may find employment within the fire services, nursing, the police, the armed forces, the sport and leisure industry, physiotherapy, sports psychology or PE teaching.
