Five GCSEs at grade C or above to include English Language (higher tier) and English Literature (higher tier).
Course Content
Classical Civilisation students critically consider texts and translations of ancient poetry and plays to better understand the ancient world. They are encouraged to consider past societies in terms of human achievement, religion, moral values and attitudes, studying how ancient art and literature reflects these influences. Students are introduced to the Classical World, comparing classical and contemporary thinking. They learn about life in Athens and Rome, looking at a range of sources and building knowledge of ancient society, religion, philosophy and the roles of women. There is the opportunity to study ancient texts such as Homer’s Odyssey.

Two 1 hour 30 minute written exams.
