This multi skilled programme has been designed around the needs of local employers. It has a mix of both practical & theory learning that is the major components of the Advanced Apprenticeship Framework.

 

You will be working with and being taught by a group of engineers with a huge amount of recent industrial experience. We have excellent facilities, industry standard equipment and very good relationships with local and national employers.

Entry Requirements

You should have 4 GCSEs at grade C or above including Math’s and Science OR BTEC First Diploma or equivalent, with evidence of good mathematics progress.

Assessment

Assessment is by coursework and practical assignments.

Progression to...

Students who have completed this course have gone on to gain employment locally, nationally as well as progressing on to do further studies towards University but the opportunity is also available to progress to a 2nd Year Top-up to a full Ext National Diploma at Level 3.

Children & Young People’s Workforce (Extended Diploma), Level 3

Perfect for you if... you have already achieved the Level 3 (Diploma) qualification and want to gain the detailed knowledge and understanding required to work with children and young people. You will also get a 'License to Practice' from this qualification.

 

This qualification is designed to help students to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children and young people from birth to 19 years. The course covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas and is split into three pathways:

Level 3

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including Maths, English; or a pass at BTEC Level 2 Certificate; or equivalent. Progression from Health & Social Care Level 2 qualification. You will need to attend an interview with the Course Tutor and a CRB check. You must also provide two confidential references and be able to work in demanding placement settings. Course Duration One year.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out internally using a range of methods which could include: direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or an optional assessment task set by CACHE.

Progression to...

You can progress into Higher Education or employment. This pathway is appropriate for all practitioners working in settings delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage. Specific job roles may include: playgroup workers, children’s centre staff, staff in day care provision, nursery schools and nursery or reception classes in primary schools, registered childminders and nannies or portage workers (education support workers who visit families of pre-school children in their homes).

Children & Young People’s Workforce (Diploma), Level 3

Perfect for you if... you want to gain the detailed knowledge and understanding required to work with children and young people. You will also get a 'License to Practice' from this qualification.

Perfect for you if... you are motivated and enthusiastic and would like a career working with young people. You will have a keen interest in children's learning and development.

 

You will gain experience in college-organised work placements and study a range of subjects including: communication; personal development; equality and inclusion; and child and young person development.

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above; or pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate; or equivalent. Progression from a relevant Level 1 qualification. Travel & Tourism (Subsidiary Diploma), Level 3

Perfect for you if... you are considering a career in the Travel & Tourism industry and would like to sample one full day's work placement per week to gain the real hands-on experience that is needed.

Level 3

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English; or merit in a Travel qualification at Level 2. Interview with Course Tutor and a reference from a Personal Tutor. Course Duration One year.

Assessment is coursework based including practical demonstrations, presentations, reports, role play and observations.

Progression to...

Progression into Higher Education courses or employment such as: Air Cabin Crew; Airport Baggage Handler; Holiday Centre Manager; Tourist Guide or Travel Agent.

Travel & Tourism, Level 3

Perfect for you if... you want to take an in-depth look at the biggest industry in the world and make it your career with a combination of a keen interest and knowledge of the Tourism industry and Business related skills.

 

You will investigate unique sectors such as Cruising, Tour Operations and the role of Holiday Representatives, as well as Business related skills within Customer Service and Marketing.

 

The course also features visits to hotels, theme parks and other visitor attractions.

 

Study Level

Level 3

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English; or merit in a Travel qualification at Level 2. Interview with Course Tutor and a reference from a Personal Tutor. Course Duration Two years.

You could progress onto Higher Education courses in Tourism Management or Marketing, Events Management and Airline & Airport Management. Careers include: Holiday Representative, Air Cabin Crew, Airport Services, Tour Guides and Travel Consultants.

Air Cabin Crew, Level 2

This course will run alongside either the Level 2 qualification or Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Travel & Tourism providing you with a greater knowledge of the Travel industry.

 

Perfect for you if... you want to work as part of a team with a high level of customer care and want to pursue a career in Air Cabin Crew with all the knowledge and skills you need to prepare for enter into the airline industry.

Level 2

Entry Requirements

For Level 2 qualification: Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (with at least 1 at Grade C or above); or pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate; or equivalent. Aviation Operations, Level 2

This course will run alongside either the Level 2 course or Level3 Subsidiary Diploma in Travel & Tourism providing you with a strong knowledge of the industry.

 

Perfect for you if... you are considering a career as Airport ground staff and want to know more about all the systems and processes in the day-to-day running of an airport.

Level 2

For the Level 2 qualification: Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above ( with at least 1 at Grade C or above); or pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate ; or equivalent.
